Terms of Service
Last updated 22 October 2026
These terms cover your use of Thrift & Tally at thriftandtally.com, an inventory and profit tracker for thrift and resale sellers. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
Your account and household
- You need a valid email address. Keep your password safe; you're responsible for what happens under your sign-in.
- A subscription covers a household. The person who creates it is the owner and can invite others. Each member has their own sign-in and their own inventory, and can choose to share it with others in the household.
- The household owner manages billing. If the owner removes someone, that person loses access to the household.
- You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to hold a paid subscription.
Free trial and the Free plan
New households get a 14-day free trial of the Family plan with every feature. No card is needed to start. When the trial ends without a subscription, the household moves to the Free plan:
- Up to 25 items in the household. If you have more, nothing is deleted: you can still view, edit, sell and export them, but you can't add new items until you're under the limit or subscribe.
- Up to 25 expenses and 30 mileage trips a month, counted by the date entered. Repeating expenses you've set up are always recorded, and you can always view, edit, delete and export what you have.
- Only the household owner can make changes. Other members can still sign in and see their own inventory.
- eBay import and sales sync, sharing between members, inviting members, and AI features are part of the Family plan only.
- We may change what the Free plan includes. We'll tell household owners at least 30 days before a change that removes something.
Subscription and payment
- The Family plan costs $10 per month or $100 per year, plus any sales tax that applies where you live. One subscription covers the whole household, up to 6 people including the owner.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel. Your card is charged at the start of each billing period.
- Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
- If a payment fails, the household is on Free-plan rules until the payment goes through.
- We may change prices. We'll email the household owner at least 30 days before a change takes effect, and it applies from your next renewal after that.
Cancelling
You can cancel any time from Account → Billing → Manage billing, which opens Stripe's customer portal. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep full access until the end of the period you've paid for, and then the household moves to the Free plan. Refunds are covered by our refund policy.
Your data
- Your inventory, sales and notes belong to you. We use them only to run the service for you, as described in our privacy policy.
- You can export your items, sales and purchases as CSV files at any time, on any plan.
- You can delete your account from your profile settings. See the privacy policy for what's deleted and when.
Connected accounts (eBay)
If you connect an eBay seller account, you authorize us to read your listings, orders, fees and shipping-label costs through eBay's official API so we can fill in your inventory. We ask only for read-only access, never for your eBay password, and you can disconnect at any time. Your use of eBay is still governed by eBay's own terms.
Acceptable use
Please don't:
- break the law, or use the service to track stolen or counterfeit goods;
- try to get into other people's accounts or households, or probe or overload the service;
- scrape, resell or copy the service, or share one subscription beyond your household.
We may suspend or close accounts that do these things. Where we reasonably can, we'll tell you first and let you export your data.
Reports and tax records
Thrift & Tally's dashboards and reports, including the tax worksheet, are tools to help you keep records. They're only as accurate as what you enter or import, and they aren't tax, legal or financial advice. Check with a tax professional before filing.
Availability and changes
We work to keep the service running and your data backed up, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. We may add, change or remove features. If we ever shut the service down, we'll give at least 30 days' notice so you can export your data, and refund any unused part of a yearly subscription.
Liability
The service is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses such as lost profits or lost sales, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before it. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be waived.
Changes to these terms
If we make a significant change, we'll update the date above and email household owners before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.
